AG Ambassadors

Your 2024-2025 Ag Ambassadors are Amelia Behrends, Brynn Perry, and Calla Higbie.

In 2019 the Board of Directors adopted an Ag Ambassador program. As high school students who want to develop themselves and strengthen their knowledge of all areas in agriculture and policy, the Ag Ambassador program is an exceptional opportunity that connects seniors in high school with Farm Bureau to grow their knowledge of agriculture, assist their county board with events, and create a line of communication with future employers and experts in the industry. Ag Ambassadors participate in Farm Bureau events within our county, as well as attending events in Manhattan and Topeka with Kansas Farm Bureau. Upon completion of their program year, Ambassadors receive a $1000 scholarship to their school of choice.

Day on the Farm is held annually at Sylvester Ranch in the fall. This is a cooperative program with the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce and Franklin County Farm Bureau. The 2024 Day on the Farm event was a huge success with nearly 400 students, teachers and volunteers involved.

Bread in a Bag is a program highlighting wheat provided to third graders in their classrooms. Each student takes home a loaf of homemade whole wheat bread and the recipe. In 2024, Farm Bureau volunteers presented the program to over 300 third grade students in every elementary school in Franklin County.

Your Franklin County Women's committee has been busy making Bread in a Bag with 3rd graders across Franklin County.

They hope to work with every third grade in the county and would welcome the help of members who would like to lend a hand.

They will be working at several schools around Kansas Day (January 29th)

Those kids look so happy. They seem to enjoy what they are doing. This activity was indeed a good past time for the kids. In activity such as this kids will learn how to interact with other kids. They will be spending their time in a meaningful way. My son was one of the children who have tried that activity and he really enjoyed it. He keeps on talking and sharing to me his experiences. I am happy to see that my son enjoyed and have fun to that. Thanks for sharing this post.

I really love bread, its softness and taste is really great. This is a nice activity for 3rd graders, it would give them knowledge on how to make bread in a bag. It would be useful for them in the future. I hope they could keep all 3rd graders to be involved and actively participate.
